Doky Designs Sounds for Luxury Phone
The Æ+Y Phone
In collaboration with the renowned technology designer, Yves Behar, the Copenhagen-based company Aesir Copenhagen has created an ultimate luxury phone - the Æ+Y phone. All the original ringtones are composed by Chris Minh Doky specifically for this phone.
Aesir Copenhagen founder Thomas Møller Jensen never doubted for a second that he wanted Doky to compose the ringtones and sounds: "He has this natural, crisp and contemporary sound that I just knew would fit Yve''s design and the Æsir brand".
"I want music to sound like a story, a picture, a feeling, an energy. It must be natural and real in order to connect with people on an emotional level", Doky says, "When I first held the phone in my hands, I felt an obvious organic craftmanship that instantly made me think of real, handcrafted instruments - of concert grand pianos, acoustic guitars, orchestras, flutes and percussion. The elegance of the electronics brought to mind a famous British secret agent, well equipped with the best of the latest. In other words, the phone was full of inspiration for a matching soundtrack."
New Album: Scenes From a Dream
Cinematic jazz album by Chris Minh Doky, Larry Goldings and Peter Erskine conducted and arranged by Grammy winner Vince Mendoza out now. Doky’s latest creation, Scenes From a Dream, demonstrates his rare ability to perform with ample portions of creativity and dynamism. Doky sees this album as a milestone that he could not have made earlier. The album moves in a fresh direction and is another testament of Doky’s versatility.
"Scenes From a Dream is a classic jazz trio recording with Vince Mendoza and the Metropole orchestra as an extra dimension," says Chris Minh Doky. With the bass in front as the lead voice, stemming from the Danish tradition, Doky has made an album that is both sensual and artistic at the same time. “It reflects the freedom that I feel I have come to in my musical expression", says Doky.
On Scenes From a Dream, his 11th solo album, Chris Minh Doky finds himself in close collaboration with his long time friends, pianist Larry Goldings and drummer Peter Erskine. Celebrated for Joni Mitchell's Both Sides Now, Björk and Robbie Williams; conductor, arranger and Grammy winner Vince Mendoza and the Metropole Orchestra completes the line up on this acclaimed and cinematic album.

Chris Minh Doky concerts are always full of joy and intense interplay. "Music must sound as if it's happening right now - originates in front of you in the moment," he says. This time is no exception. His orchestra includes some of the best international jazz musicians today. Behind the drums sits legend Dave Weckl, who had his breakthrough with Chick Corea. On guitar is the Dean Brown, who with his unique sound and stage performance with particular Marcus Miller, Boz Scaggs and the Brecker Brothers has distinguished himself as one of the most funky guitarists today. George Whitty on keyboards shows why he is Grammy winner and the man behind many of Michael Brecker amazing releases.
