On July 1st Chris Minh Doky will be performing at Plænen in Tivoli Gardens (Copenhagen), with his electrifying band, The Nomads. This performance marks not only the opening of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival in Tivoli, but also the last show with the Nomads before they will record a brand new album. A concert with Chris Minh Doky always comes from the heart and is always full intense interplay. "Music must sound as if it's happening right now, right here - in front of you" he says. This time is no exception. His band includes some of the best international jazz musicians of today. On guitar, Dean Brown, who with his unique sound and stage performance with the likes of Marcus Miller, Boz Scaggs and the Brecker Brothers has distinguished himself as one of the most funky guitarists today. George Whitty on keyboards shows why he is a Grammy producer and musician with albums such as the many and amazing Michael Brecker releases. The phenomenal drummer, Gene Lake completes this all star band that for sure will energize the historic Tivoli Gardens on this first day of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival 2011.
